DAY 1: LAMEZIA TERME – BADOLATO
Benvenuti in Calabria! Upon arrival at Lamezia Terme International Airport you’ll be welcomed by your private driver, who will bring you to Badolato. After the check-in at the carefully restored, historic properties in the “albergo diffuso” in Badolato. Enjoy a delectable welcome dinner at “Catojo dello Spinetto”, a local restaurant in an old cellar where you get to find out more about the itinerary of the week. Overnight.
DAY 2: ITALIAN LANGUAGE COURSE
After breakfast we meet the Italian teacher who presents us the program of the week. So let’s start with the first lesson of the course which, in a pleasant and stimulating way, will provide us with the first bases for a simple conversation in Italian. We close with a tasty light lunch. In the afternoon we take a walk listening to an interesting story of the village and the life that takes place there. In the evening we have dinner in another typical restaurant in the village.
DAY 3: ITALIAN COURSE – “THE WORDS OF WINE” – VINEYARDS AND TASTING
This morning we continue the course and after the pleasant lessons we leave with our teacher for the countryside where we are welcomed by a winery that produces wines with indigenous grapes. After a walk in the vineyards we settle down for a tasting of wines and local products. It will also be an opportunity to learn some terms related to the world of wine, much appreciated today. In the afternoonwe have free time to spend by the sea or in the historic center of Badolato. For dinner we meet in a typical restaurant to taste Calabrian pizza.
DAY 4: JOURNEY TO THE WORLD OF SILK – BIO LUNCH
Today together with our Italian teacher we leave for a wonderful excursion to San Floro. To welcome us is the Nido di Seta Cooperative, founded by three young people who accompany us with competence and passion on a fantastic journey into the world of silk! We visit the museum and at their company we discover fascinating techniques and artisanal methods still used today to produce the most precious yarn in the world. For lunch, we enjoy a meal based on the company’s organic products and other local delicacies. In the late afternoon we return to Badolato. Free evening.
DAY 5: ITALIAN COURSE
In the morning we meet our Italian teacher and continue our Italian course. After a tasty light lunch, the afternoon remains available to take wonderful baths in the clear waters of the Ionian Sea or to relax in the ancient village. In the evening we meet in a restaurant in the historic center for dinner.
DAY 6: ITALIAN COURSE – “WORDS OF FOOD” – COUNTRY MARKET OF SOVERATO – CALABRIAN COOKING LESSON
Today we go with our Italian teacher to Soverato, a beautiful town called the Pearl of the Ionian Sea. We visit a market where we can admire the colorful vegetables and seasonal fruit, cheeses, meats and other delicacies that small producers bring from the countryside. We learn the names of this great variety of products and fill our baskets with what we need for the cooking class. We then stop at a farm to learn how to cook some traditional dishes while we take the opportunity to get culinary advice from Per who is very good in cooking and especially in Calabrian cuisine. After enjoying our tasty dishes we return to Badolato in time for the Italian lessons.
DAY 7: ITALIAN LANGUAGE COURSE
Our Italian teacher is waiting for us for the last lesson of the course and to exchange opinions and impressions on the experience lived together. In the evening we meet in a restaurant in the historic center to taste traditional Calabrian dishes while we listen to the local musicians who delight us with the notes of the tarantella inviting everyone to the dance.
DAY 8: BADOLATO – LAMEZIA TERME
After breakfast, it’s time to go back! A shuttle takes you to the Lamezia Terme International Airport by 10 a.m. for your return flight. Arrivederci!
